Adding A+ Content to Your Book's Amazon Product Detail Page
Optimizing your Book's Sales Page for Increased Profit
Do you want a 6-10% increase in sales? (Of course, you do! Small increments like this add up and add up to a stronger income stream!)
Amazon says that if you add A+ Content to your book’s sales page, you should—on average—see a 6% increase in sales on the Amazon platform.
I am updating the A+ Content on several book pages this week. Join me for the ride!
What is A+ Content
NOTE: You can only apply A+ Content to books or ebooks published on KDP. If you publish only through Ingram, the books are not eligible for A+ Content (Unless you go through Seller Central or other Amazon program.)
When you look at a product sales page on Amazon, there’s often extra information at the end provided by the publisher. Under the description and related books, there’s a section labeled, FROM THE PUBLISHER. See the section highlighted by the red oval below.
Adding A+ Content is currently free and can be copied to add to each book and each marketplace (international markets).
You can use A+ content to add information in multiple ways:
Expand on characters, plot or setting of the story.
Highlight special uses of the books, important reviews, or other relevant information.
Highlight other books in a series, as I’ve done here.
Emphasize the author’s expertise.
Story timeline and reading order.
Whatever else you want to add!
Plan your content! Before you start, it does help if you have some idea of what you want to include in the A+ Content. If you often get questions about reading order, focus on that. However, if you want readers to know that this series has nine other books, focus on the series. Sometimes, an author chooses to reinforce a mood—romantic or horror, for example—and chooses images that hook the right readers.
Also, think about SEO (Search Engine Optimization), which focuses on keywords and information helpful to the reader searching for answers. If you’re working on a book about solar eclipses, you may want to include your keywords: total solar eclipse, sun, moon, moon shadow, children’s book eclipse, kids book solar eclipse, and so on. Of course, you will those words in your book title, subtitle, and description. This is just reinforcing and strengthening the SEO on the page, making it more likely to be found in a search.
How to Add A+ Content
You may only add this A+ content if you POD with Kindle Direct Publishing. Log into your dashboard. On your book’s details, click on Promote and Advertise.
Then click on A+ Content.
You must choose your marketplace, and then the button allows you to continue. Because I’m in the US, I usually start there, and then copy the content to the other marketplaces.
Here are links to what Amazon says about A+ Content.

The A+ Content consists of modules that can be added to the page. Each module consists of text and images in a certain layout, or a table to display multiple books. The modules are meant to be flexible, allowing creativity in how they are deployed. The best way to do this is to just jump in and try the modules.
Your content will eventually be submitted for approval, so be sure to read the guidelines first. The top mistakes include:
Pricing and promotional information are not allowed. You cannot use “Buy Now,” “Add to Cart,” etc.
Customer reviews are not allowed. You can still use Editorial Reviews, but Amazon recommends you do that through your Author Central dashboard.
Time sensitive information: Do not use “now, new, latest, yet, on sale now, the latest product, the best yet, or references to holidays. This includes references to Kindle Unlimited.”
Publication quotes, or blurbs, are limited to four quotes, and only from famous people or publications.
Read the guidelines linked above for more.
Within those guidelines, you have lots of leeway to include promotional text and images. I use Canva.com for images. It’s an easy program to figure out, has many templates that can be customized, and because I have a paid account, I can use any stock images I like.
Basically, I start with a goal in mind, and then play with the modules to find one that works for my content and goal. Then, I create images on Canva and import them.
Image Sizes
Logo Image: 600 x 180
Image Header with Text: 970 x 600 (Recommended)
Standard Image & Dark or Light Text Overlay: 970 x 300
Standard 3 Images with Text: 300 x 300
Standard Single Left Image: 300 x 300
Standard Single Right Image: 300 x 300
Standard Single Left Image: 300 x 300
Once you are happy with your content, you can apply it to various ASINs. This allows you to include it on the product detail page of each book in the series. Create once! Then apply to each book!
Finally, you’ll submit it to Amazon for approval.
After it’s approved, you can duplicate the content to each international market and apply ASINs there. Create once! Then apply to each market!
Now, wait. It can take time for your content to be updated, maybe up to 7 days.
Keeping A+ Content Up-to-Date!
Like every piece of metadata, you should keep the A+ Content up to date. Read more in the post below about the importance of Metadata.
Because I have a new book in the Moments in Science series coming out in June. I’m updating all the A+ Content for that series.
A+ Content is one of the free marketing tools from Amazon. Studies say that it can increase sales 6-20%. My experience is on the lower end, but I take advantage of everything I can!
Do you use A+ Content on your product detail page? Any tips?
