At one point, I tried to dig into this and figure it out. I decided it was one place. I’m not gonna DIY. So I hired the CIP block people to just do it for me.

Hi Darcy, I have purchased quite a few of your books over the years. I noticed that within your CIP blocks, each of your books has its own unique LCC number which puts it in a specific non fiction section of the library - soil conservation for Erosion, marine biology for Aquarium, etc. However, I've also seen picture book authors that use an LCC number that is based on author last name. They might also add a few letters depending on the title and whether it's in a series. That way all their books are shelved together by author's last name within the picture book section. For instance, LCC PZ7.1. would denote Children's Fiction. I wondered what insight you could provide. I understand that you hire someone for this part, but I would love to understand this subject more fully and how it's worked for shelving your books at the library. Thank you!
