Find Success Self-Publishing Children’s Books
Links to podcasts and guest blogs - keep learning!
This is a big week because I've launched a Kickstarter campaign for my forthcoming book, PUBLISH: Find Surprising Success Self-Publishing Your Children's Books! I’m doing a lot around the internet instead of here—but still teaching and talking about how this works.
NOTE: Kickstarter is not a charity-ask like GoFundMe. Instead, on Kickstarter, you always receive something, a book, in this case.
Here are some articles and podcasts, I’ve done this week.
1) Podcast interview: The Creative Penn, Writing, Self-Publishing and Marketing. Such a delight to talk with the amazing Joanna Penn. (You’ll get to hear my voice!)
2) Lulu Blog article: Maximizing Self‑Published Children’s Books Sales: A Guide to Direct Sales for Indie Authors I use Lulu POD as the backend of my Shopify store.
3) Podcast interview on Kirsten Williams Larson's Nonfiction Kidlit Craft Conversations. Such a great conversation with Kirsten. I highly recommend her book on writing nonfiction for kids, Reimagining Your Nonfiction Picture Book.
4) Coming on September 27: Write2Ignite Master Class in Self-Publishing Children's Books. If you really want to dig into self-publishing, this is the class! They will record the presentations, but really—you’ll want to be there all day.
If you are a paid subscriber here, you will automatically receive an ebook of PUBLISH in about November. However, the Kickstarter has paperback books, and a collection of other writing books. Please check it out here. I SO appreciate your support! I make the mistakes so you don’t have to!
The Kickstarter’s goal was modest, only $500. It went over that the first day, and as I write this, it’s about $1750. I’d love to see that over $2000 by the end of the weekend. Please pass this along to your writer friends.

Thanks for this Darcy! I listened to your interview with J. Penn and just searched for you on YouTube before coming over to Substack and finding this post. Perfect! Will be upgrading to explore your Substack soon. Have published my first two middle grade novels recently but have had no time to market besides selling in person. I’ll also have a look at your kickstarter. Best of luck!
