INDIE PUBLISHING A CHILDREN'S BOOK: STEP BY STEP #5
Prepublication Marketing! Preorders, conferences, emails, awards, and more.
On June 26, I’ll be speaking at Library Insights Summit 2025 on a panel about Getting Your Book Vetted, in Libraries, and in the Hands of Readers for author-publishers. Come and join me!
Held adjacent to the ALA’s National Conference in Philadelphia, PA, the Summit is co-sponsored by the Independent Book Publisher’s Association (IBPA) and Foreword Reviews. Because I’m speaking at this Summit, I’ll be in Philadelphia for the ALA conference, so that is affecting my publicity plans for my forthcoming book, NOT EXTINCT: The Return of the Przewalski’s Horse from Extinct in the Wild. I’ll detail that below.
The book launches on July 8, and is now available for preorder! CLICK HERE TO PREORDER IT ON AMAZON.

I’m in the prepublication marketing phase of this book and there’s so much to do. I don’t rely on just one strategy, but on multiple ways to reach out and share the forthcoming book with opinion makers. At this point, though, I am focusing on opinion makers, not the kids who will read it. That can come later.
This is an ongoing series for my paid subscribers following the process of publishing a book from idea to finished book to marketing. Here are previous posts.

Step 3: 2 Crucial Metadata Items - Cover and Subtitle
Step 4: Copyediting, Finalizing Design, Uploading to Printers
