The California Reading Association just announced the winners of the Eureka! Nonfiction Book Award. The award is designed to “…celebrate and honor nonfiction children’s books. The Eureka! Nonfiction Children’s Book Award will assist teachers, librarians, and parents in identifying outstanding nonfiction books for their students and children.”
I am thrilled that one of my titles was named an Honor book! I Am the Thirsty Desert is a lyrical nonfiction story about the superbloom in a desert after a rainfall. Illustrated by the amazing Jordan Kim, I hope this book will put it in the hands of more readers!
Just as amazing - this is the fourth time for a Mims House book to receive this honor.
Celebrate with me the fact that we can write and publish books that we love, and then help them find the right audience.
🎉 Congratulations!
Fabulous, big congratulations to both of you!!
I just read my nonfiction, Autumn in the Forest, to kindergarteners and I find that children can be just as entranced by the natural world as by the imaginary one. All forty of them knew what sound the squirrels make when I asked them to "read along with me," a little chorus of sound. It sounds like this book has the same magic. I have to go get it!
